A week and a half ago dipped into another full blown, 16 hours sleeping a day, pain in the limbs attack of M.E or Fibromyalgia or CFS (Doctors cannot agree). This was my second in three years. This one began worst than any previous attacks.
I surfaced after three days and search the internet and came across the idea of eating raw food. I have been on raw food for only one week and all pain has left my limbs and I am only sleeping 9-10 hours a night. I had an enormous headache for the first two days (caffeine withdrawel?) then felt no different than before I started on the following day .But today I have woken amazed by the speed of my recovery. I am out of bed, I have no pain, I can think, my eyes don't hurt, the soles of my feet aren't buring, life feels worth living. I am seriously contemplating going the whole hog and buying a juicer. I am even trying sprouting beans! According to what I have read on line things can only get better!!

This will be my third day on raw foods and I am sleeping better than I have in a long time. My energy level is improving and just feel lighter. I had a terrible headache the first day so I drank a half cup of coffee yesterday and will have a little this morning with almond milk. I had a little gastric pain last evening and couldn't eat dinner but I feel fine today. My elimination is fantastic. I started this lifestye because my doctor said that I would have to go on blood pressure medication and that I should probably have a gastric bypass surgery. I am 58 years old, 5' 4" and weigh 228 with a BMI of 39. I decided at that moment that I would take charge of my life and prescribe myself raw foods and exercise and see if I can get my BP down as well as my weight. I am just going to take it one day at a time and be nurturing to myself. I have so been about 98% raw for the 2 days that I have been eating raw and I can't believe how full I am and how much slower I eat my meals. This is really such a new and exciting experience. I am going to just keep taking baby steps and keep a good attitude. I wish you all the very best with your raw foods journey. I love to hear back from others. Becky

Ok. I am going raw as of today, so we'll say about 13 hours now, since I know I definitely didn't eat after midnight. Here's my plan- I want to get my eczema to clear up. I haven't been going to the chiro recently, and I starting sneaking wheat (pizza/pasta) which I am not supposed to be eating). My eczema has flared up from dietary indiscretions. We have a wedding coming up in 4 weeks, and I am hoping my eczema will clear up by then after 4 weeks of raw. I have been veg for 2 years (with several periods of veganism) until this this summer when it was discovered i was sensitive to wheat (and corn). So, recently I have been eating more dairy and also been eating fish because I have some Italian heritage and have been feeling sort of devastated about not being able to eat pasta. What can I expect in terms of withdrawal symptoms? right now, I am hungry but have been trying to eat my "breakfast" for hours (it is hard to eat raw because you actually have to chew everything :) I experienced withdrawal when I gave up meat 2 years ago, and the withdrawal primarily consisted of feverish feelings and visions of eating a grilled chicken sandwhich, the feverish symptoms lasted months, though. I'm a little scared of how sick I might feel from going raw, but I am committed to doing this for the next four weeks at least (at the wedding, we will have to eat(or pretend to eat chicken) it was either that or cow, so i went with the lesser of 2 evils) Any comments/vote of confidence is appreciated. I am going to be tough about this, and dh is doing it too, so I think I will make it at least the 4 weeks.

I noticed many people when switching to raw can start detoxing naturally an not recognise what is going on. This can cause some confusion as people may feel they are lacking something, but in effect it is just toxic elimination which can take a while. Sooo what is the solution? Do a good colon cleanse first. There are a few here http://www.detox.net.au/articles/colon-cleanse/cleanse-kit-reviews/ .
I know a few people who did the top ranked cleanse hear and got out heaps of gunk, much more than on the Master Cleanse. Then switching to raw should be easier. My 2 bobs worth.... Mark

I starting consider gonning raw for many reasons...im sorry; vanity won...i wanted to lose weight and keep it off. theres no better way to do that than to eating a diet full of fresh fruit & veggie. And then theres your health to consider...processed foods are killing us slowly...ie cancer, heart disease, high cholesteral and obesity. Slowly but surely I gat to eating an all raw diet.

Hellloo everyone!
I'm Victoria from Australia and I'm new to this forum and to the RAW lifestyle! Okay, before I forget....I just have some questions because I'm new to this lifestyle...and my family would like to know somethings. 1) Where do you get your proteins and calcium intakes from due to the fleshes (Meat)? 2) What are your staple foods that are quick and simple, like your favourite juices and soups, etc? :D Thank you everybody, and I plan to be very active on this forum to learn more about this wonderful lifestyle and to get to know all you lovely people!

I am a weight loss consultant and have found that most people don't like to eat raw healthy foods. Instead they want to poor gobs of salad dressings and butter on top. Great information I will use it.

Eating out raw is not that difficult. You can bring some of your own staples along with you and and combine with these ideas:
Mexican: Pica di gao (chopped tomato and cilantro with lime juice - not spelled correctly) and guac and any other veggies that usually come on the side with fajitas Japanese: Seaweed salad and veggie rolls without the rice Thai: Spring rolls (not eating the wrapper of course) with dipping sauce, papaya salad, mango salad (YUM) American: Iceberg salad with olive oil and lemon juice/balsamic vinegar *These suggestions don't require any special requests from the restaurant, but if you don't mind doing that, you can always ask for veggie sides raw at any restaurant.

Does anyone know a raw eating body builder or sports person. My son is sick, I am encouraging him to go raw but he body builds and is afraid he will loose muscle mass. If I could point him to someone who eats raw and does body building this would be a great encouragement.
Thanks, Cathy
