  • Some Guidance Ok. I am going raw as of today, so we'll say about 13 hours now, since I know I definitely didn't eat after midnight. Here's my plan- I want to get my eczema to clear up. I haven't been going to the chiro recently, and I starting sneaking wheat (pizza/pasta) which I am not supposed to be eating). My eczema has flared up from dietary indiscretions. We have a wedding coming up in 4 weeks, and I am hoping my eczema will clear up by then after 4 weeks of raw. I have been veg for 2 years (with several periods of veganism) until this this summer when it was discovered i was sensitive to wheat (and corn). So, recently I have been eating more dairy and also been eating fish because I have some Italian heritage and have been feeling sort of devastated about not being able to eat pasta. What can I expect in terms of withdrawal symptoms? right now, I am hungry but have been trying to eat my "breakfast" for hours (it is hard to eat raw because you actually have to chew everything :) I experienced withdrawal when I gave up meat 2 years ago, and the withdrawal primarily consisted of feverish feelings and visions of eating a grilled chicken sandwhich, the feverish symptoms lasted months, though. I'm a little scared of how sick I might feel from going raw, but I am committed to doing this for the next four weeks at least (at the wedding, we will have to eat(or pretend to eat chicken) it was either that or cow, so i went with the lesser of 2 evils) Any comments/vote of confidence is appreciated. I am going to be tough about this, and dh is doing it too, so I think I will make it at least the 4 weeks.

  • Re: Raw Reform I have been on Raw Food Plan for two days now, I am still having my coffee, but I too noticed an enormous headache, so it's not caffeine withdrawal. It is a whopper of a headache, but mine is at night (last night and tonight). I have Lupus/FMS/Celiac, for the first time today I notice that my horrid neck pain was gone, still have some other pain but not as bad, I am amazed!! I had taken prescription/otc meds and they didn't help my neck, now all of a sudden it's gone?!! I have noticed that I have more energy, but also need to eat more often. So far this has been great!

  • Diet & Exercise I joined this site for one reason, to correct what I read on the home page of this site. The information giving is false. It was stated that , "if you are over weight, you don't need to diet, you just need to exercise." This is false, the proper nutrition (dieting) is 80% of weight loss, with or without exercise. Yes it's true exercise is very important, however, you could exercise all day long, but, without the intake of a proper nutrition plan you will not lose the weight. The correct way to lose body fat is to feed your body atleast 4 to 6 small healthy meals a day. This will keep your metabolism working, while it's working it's burning calories. If you ate whatever you wanted (burgers, cake, ect.) even at small amounts, it is the wrong kind of foods and most just food are what we call empty calories. And if you are not doing some kind of work out to burn off the garbage your putting in your body, it will turn to fat. Specially if you have a slow metabolism. I feel if you're going to have a health website to help others reach their weight goals then you really need to get the facts straight. As it is hard enough for most folks to change a lifestyle of unhealthy eating when they have the correct information. False information would just make it that much harder and people will only get discouraged. And please, use spell check, as a lot of what has been written on the home page is mis-spelled. Thanks.
