Hello, my name is Kevin. I'm a biologist and I live in northern Utah.
We have mainly studied black bears (the one below is tranquilized, not dead) and horned lizards, but we jump at the chance to help with another project (such as bat surveys).
MORE ABOUT ME...
I joined this wiki because: I have an interest in healthy eating, and would like to incorporate more raw food into my diet.
The best word to describe me is: distracted
Interests: Eclectic: most anything outdoors or dealing with animals, painting (pictures, not houses), investing (isn't the stock market weird?), wikis, how people learn, teaching (I teach anatomy, physiology, and microbiology), languages (I speak French and am working on Spanish), my kids, travel (especially when it is a free trip!), sustainability as it relates to environmental issues, religion, people (aren't they weird?), dumpster diving, and any new thing that catches my attention.
Favorite movies: Life is Beautiful (in Italian), Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (in Chinese), nature documentaries by David Attenborough (such as Life on Earth). . . that's all I can think of. We have a TV but no antenna or cable--we only watch DVDs and videos that we can check out (free) at the library. Yes, I'm a cheapskate.
What else you should know about me: My user name "flattail" refers to the flat-tailed horned lizard (Phrynosoma mcallii), which I have studied for about 10 years. We do not grow a lot of our own food, but we like to can, freeze, and dry foods. We also make our own bread from wheat that we grind. I'm curious to learn how people with kids incorporate more raw foods into the daily diet.
